Batsheva Hosts: Project 48 Dance – 13th edition

The awaited yearly event returns – choreographer Dana Ruttenberg brings Project 48 Dance in its 13th edition: a dance speed-date, in which completely original dance works are created and premiered in two 24 hour rounds, by unexpected creative ensembles of choreographers, dancers and other artists.

As part of this unique project, nearly 40 artists will create 10 original works together, in 24 hour rounds. Each round will commence with a raffle that will determine the division into creative ensembles. All ensembles will be given one shared video “prompt” to which their creation will respond, quote, or take inspiration from. This prompt will also be screened to the audience at the beginning of each show, followed by 5 brand new works each evening, giving you the audience a point of reference for your viewing experience. At the end of the first show, we will hold a second raffle in front of the audience – all the names will go “back into the hat” and will be redrawn in new combinations, launching the second round which will also culminate in a new show of original, singular works the next evening.

All rehearsals will be live streamed on Instagram (@drdgdance), offering audiences across the globe a rare peek into the work processes of leading choreographers.

Photographer Ascaf Avraham will follow the rehearsals and present an exhibition of images caught in his lens within the past 24 hours.
