Two original creations by Roni Chadash and Bosmat Nossan, created especially for the Batsheva Ensemble dancers.
For over a decade, Chadash and Nossan have been shaping the local dance landscape, bringing to the stage a daring and powerful contemporary feminine voice.
Dome / Bosmat Nossan
Dome, by choreographer and dancer Bosmat Nossan, emerges from an intense present in which life is under constant threat, even as it continues to press forward. The dancers of the Batsheva Ensemble embody the reality in which they came of age: a generation that grew up between a pandemic and a war and now faces an unknown future. On this unstable ground, dance shifts from a choice into a necessary response. It is no longer only about freedom of expression or self-fulfillment, but also an organizing and unifying tool that restores a sense of control within an ever-shrinking breathing space.
When the future is not guaranteed, choice becomes more tangible – choosing to stay, choosing to dance, choosing one another. Dome asks: What happens to passion when it acts without a clear horizon? Can this heightened alertness summon a new form of freedom, or only a new form of violence?
Separations / Roni Chadash
In Separations, choreographer Roni Chadash examines a seemingly straightforward act: separation. In her signature physical language – one that fragments the body and allows each part to act independently – she turns a spotlight on separation mechanisms that are also at play in the social sphere.
Situated within the tension between the private and the social body, the piece looks at how definitions, classifications, and labels attempt to organize reality, while at the same time reducing and splintering it. In a space teeming with words and definitions spoken over and over again, the body glows in its desire to escape – to remain abstract, independent, unaffiliated.
About the Artists
Bosmat Nossan
Bosmat Nossan (1984) is a choreographer and dancer. Her work focuses on an attraction to the unnatural, the exaggerated, and the stylized, drawing inspiration from science fiction and comics. A former dancer with the Batsheva Dance Company and the Inbal Pinto & Avshalom Pollak Dance Company, she collaborates with local and international artists on diverse projects, both as a performer and as a creator. She is currently the director of teacher training at Gaga and lectures at the School of Visual Theater in Jerusalem. Her works are presented on major stages and festivals in Israel and worldwide.
Roni Chadash
Roni Chadash (1990) is an independent choreographer, performer and teacher, based in Tel-Aviv, Israel.
In her movement research, Roni dissects the body into distinct, independently operating joints. Her continuous quest revolves around uncovering instinctive, emotional, and unfiltered sources for movement.
Roni’s Creations are marked by her daring attempt to deconstruct not only the body, but also the very essence of movement, visual representations, the dynamic interplay between the audience and the performers, and the act of the show itself. The way she deals with the body peels it from history, stereotypes and dictated labeling and confronts it with a naked present.
Roni’s works received numerous awards for their originality, in Israel as well as abroad, including Israel Ministry of Culture Award for Young Choreographers (2024, 2021, 2018) and ‘Shades in Dance’ Award (2015).
